The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, warmly welcomes the signing of an agreement in Doha, State of Qatar, between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Congo River Alliance (M23 Movement). This agreement establishes a crucial mechanism for the supervision and verification of a permanent ceasefire.

The 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025) officially opened in Algiers, Algeria, under the theme “Boosting Intra-African Trade for a Sustainable Future: Innovation, Value Addition, and Green Industrialisation.” The Fair, hosted by the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and co-convened by the African Union Commission, the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), and the AfCFTA Secretariat, gathered thousands of delegates, including Heads of State, Ministers, senior policymakers, private sector leaders, and international partners.

At today’s urgent session of the AU Peace & Security Council, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission expressed deep concern over developments in #Madagascar.

He reaffirmed the AU’s firm rejection of any unconstitutional change of government and called on all Malagasy actors—civil, military, and political—to show restraint and pursue dialogue within the constitutional framework.

He underscored that the AU stands ready, in coordination with @SADC_News and the Indian Ocean Commission, to support a peaceful, inclusive, and African-led solution to the crisis.
