H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the AU Commission, received H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State of the State of #Qatar. The Minister conveyed a message of congratulations from H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani & Prime Minister of the Qatar to the Chairperson, underscoring Qatar’s commitment to deepening strategic cooperation with the AU.

This morning, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali, received H.E. Ms. Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Their constructive discussions focused on advancing peace, security, & stability in the eastern DRC & the wider Great Lakes region, with particular attention to the mediation efforts led by the AU and the joint EAC-SADC initiative.

The Chairperson welcomed all ongoing diplomatic efforts in support of a coordinated & inclusive peace process.

As we commemorate the 32nd edition of World Press Freedom Day following its proclamation by the UN General Assembly in December 1993, the African Union is organising this Roundtable to launch a programme on Democracy, Media and Socialisation. Let’s remain active partners in shaping and advancing Africa’s democratisation, peace, development and prosperity trajectory as defined in Agenda 2063.

During a joint mission to the Republic of South Sudan, the Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali , & the Deputy ES of IGAD, H.E. @MAWareSO expressed their strong solidarity with the Government & people of South Sudan.
