Dakar, Senegal, 18 December 2025: The African Energy Commission (AFREC) has officially launched a new set of Diagnostic Reports and Five-Year Action Plans aimed at supporting African Union (AU) Member States and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) in establishing and/or improving their National and Regional Energy Information Systems (NEIS/REIS).

The African Union Commission convened the Continental Foresight Consultations for Agrifood Systems transformation in Nairobi, Kenya, from 8 to 10 December 2025, to support implementation of the CAADP Kampala Declaration under the Agenda 2063 ‘’The Africa that We Want ‘’. The consultations brought together stakeholders under the leadership of H.E.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, bid farewell to H.E. Stephanie S. Sullivan, Ambassador of the United States of America to the African Union, commending her constructive engagement in strengthening AU–U.S. relations and advancing cooperation on peace, security, and development.

The exchange underscored the importance of sustained engagement, partnership, and multilateral cooperation as effective avenues for advancing shared peace, security, and development objectives, in line with Africa’s continental priorities and common interests.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, bid farewell to H.E. Mr. Michael Upton, Ambassador of New Zealand to Ethiopia and the African Union, commending his constructive engagement in strengthening AU–New Zealand relations and advancing shared commitments to multilateralism, peace, and development.

H.E. Youssouf welcomed New Zealand’s partnership with the African Union, including its consistent engagement with the Commission and support for African-led approaches to peace and security and development.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received the British Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, H.E. Mr. Darren Welch. They exchanged views on the continental developments, peace and security, and the strategic partnership between the African Union and the United Kingdom.
