African Union set to launch the Gender and Development Initiative for Africa
The African Union will tomorrow, 14th November 2017 launch the Gender and Development Initiative for Africa (GADIA). Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E Kwesi Quartey will join the President of the Republic of Ghana H.E Nana Akufo-Addo, who is also the Chairperson of the African Union’s Committee on Gender and Development, in the launch of the Initiative under the theme “Africa women as leaders in business and politics”. The launch will take place in Accra, Ghana.

I. INTRODUCTION
African Union Commission Convenes 4th Annual Continental Forum of Election Management Bodies
Kigali, 8 November 2017: The Department of Political Affairs (DPA) of the African Union Commission (AUC) will convene the fourth Annual Election Management Bodies (EMBs) Forum on 9-10 November 2017 in Kigali, Rwanda under the theme “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Enhanced Youth Participation in Electoral Processes in Africa”, in line with the 2017 theme of the African Union. The EMBs forum will be preceded by the General Assembly meeting of Association of African Electoral Authorities (AAEA) General Assembly Meeting will be held on 08 November 2017 in Kigali.

Communiqué on the Meeting between the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Integration of the Union of the Comoros
Addis Ababa, 9 November 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, received Mr. Souef Mohamed El-Amine, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Integration of the Union of the Comoros, in Addis Ababa, on 8 November 2017.
During the meeting, the Comorian Minister gave an update on the political situation in his country and the planned organization of a national dialogue, in Moroni, starting from 12 November 2017. In this regard, the Minister requested the accompaniment and support of the African Union.

Addis Ababa, 9 November 2017: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, paid an official visit to the Republic of Sudan from 5 to 7 November. His delegation included the Commissioner for Social Affairs, Amira El-Fadil, and other African Union officials.
Commissioner for Social Affairs of the African Union Commission paid the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) and the Malian authorities a two-day working visit.
The Executive Secretariat of ACALAN and the Malian authorities were honoured to recieve H.E. Amira Elfadil, Commissioner for Social Affairs of the African Union Commission on a two-day working visit.
