It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

PREAMBLE
We the African Union Commission and participants from African countries, including African Heads of State and Government, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Ministers of Information, Communication and Technology, representatives of the Diplomatique Community, International Organizations, Civil Society, the Private Sector, and the Academic and Research Communities gathered in Addis Ababa on 17 May 2025.
The African Union Commission, in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia and the Institute for Security Studies, convened a High-Level Policy Dialogue on the Development and Regulation of AI in Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The dialogue brought together participants from over 40 African countries, including Heads of State and Government, Ministers, AU Commissioners, diplomats, civil society, academia, and private sector leaders.

Chairperson of the @AUCommission H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, concluded a productive mission to Baghdad where he was invited to participate at the 34th Arab Summit. In Baghdad, he was graciously received by H.E. Abdul Latif Rashid, President of the Republic of Iraq, at the Presidential Palace.
On 17 May 2025, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, expressed deep concern over the recent armed clashes in Tripoli, which resulted in loss of life and property damage.
He welcomed the ceasefire and the return of cautious calm, while urging all parties to refrain from actions or statements that could further destabilize the fragile security situation.
On the sidelines of the 34th Arab League Summit, the Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali engaged in bilateral talks with H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the OIC. The two principals agreed to strengthen institutional cooperation and coordinate efforts in pursuit of peace, security, and prosperity in Africa and the Islamic world.
H.E. Chairperson of the Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali held a fruitful discussion with H.E. Mr. Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC on the margins of the 34th Ordinary Summit of the League of Arab States in Baghdad this afternoon. The discussion marked a new phase of collaboration between the African Union and the GCC, with both sides committed to advancing shared priorities in peace, security, and regional stability.
H.E. @ymahmoudali, the Chairperson of the AU Commission met with H.E. Mr. Waleed El Khereiji, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the Arab League in Baghdad, for fruitful discussions on enhancing the Kingdom’s partnership and support to the African Union’s efforts in promoting peace, development, and regional integration.
