The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, extends his heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of the Kingdom of Eswatini on the occasion of their Independence Day.

On this historic day, the African Union joins the people of Eswatini in celebrating the nation’s remarkable journey of sovereignty, unity, and resilience. The Chairperson pays tribute to the progress made by Eswatini in advancing peace, stability, and socio-economic development, while preserving its rich cultural heritage.

A high-level international peer review of Liberia’s Education Management Information System (EMIS), led by the African Union Commission, through its Pan African Institute for Education for Development (AU-IPED), under the Global Partnership for Education’s Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX), a joint endeavour with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, concluded today.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has learned with deep sorrow of the tragic landslide that occurred on 31 August in the village of Tarasin, North Darfur State, which reportedly claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people.

The Chairperson of the Commission conveys his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expresses his profound compassion to the people of Sudan affected by this tragedy. His thoughts also go to the sole survivor, whose resilience inspires respect and hope.
