The Africa Dialogue Series (ADS – 2025), currently holding from 5-30 May 2025 at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York, seeks to amplify a new narrative for Africa from Africa and foster global consensus on innovative solutions to achieve both agendas: the Africa Agenda 2063, and the 2030 Agenda. The global event is jointly organized by the Permanent Observer Mission of the African Union to the United Nations (AUPOM) and the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (UN-OSAA).

H.E. Ms Ntsiuoa Sekete, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU, paid a courtesy call on the Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali delivering a message of congratulations from His Majesty King Letsie III, & reaffirmed Lesotho’s support for the Chairperson’s leadership in advancing the AU’s mandate, particularly regional integration through the AfCFTA to boost intra-African trade. They also discussed AUC reforms that are aimed at making the organisation more effective & efficient.

H.E. @ymahmoudali, Chairperson of the AU Commission, received H.E. Mr. Youssouf Mondoha Assoumani, Ambassador of the Union of the Comoros to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU.

Ambassador Assoumani conveyed a message of congratulations to the Chairperson on his leadership & reiterated the Comorian Government’s support for the Commission’s mandate. He also shared perspectives on the AU’s institutional reform agenda & the SACA process.

H.E. Abdelhamid Gharbi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU, met with H.E. @ymahmoudali, Chairperson of the AU Commission. Ambassador Gharbi reaffirmed Tunisia’s support for the Chairperson’s leadership & the Commission’s mandate.

This morning, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali, received H.E. Ms. Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Their constructive discussions focused on advancing peace, security, & stability in the eastern DRC & the wider Great Lakes region, with particular attention to the mediation efforts led by the AU and the joint EAC-SADC initiative.

The Chairperson welcomed all ongoing diplomatic efforts in support of a coordinated & inclusive peace process.
