His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of #Kuwait, warmly welcomed the Chairperson of the African Union Commission at Kuwait’s Permanent Mission to the @UN in New York, on the sidelines of #UNGA80. Their discussions focused on fostering deeper collaboration between Kuwait, Arab nations, & African countries, emphasizing opportunities in trade, infrastructure, energy, and social development. Kuwait, as a permanent observer at the African Union, remains committed to strengthening these ties.

At today’s High-Level Event on Financing #AUSSOM on the sidelines of #UNGA80, co-convened by the Government of #Somalia, the AU, the @UN, & the United Kingdom, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, commended Somalia’s remarkable progress; from debt relief to UN Security Council membership, as well as the sacrifices of AU forces & partners.

He cautioned, however, that despite these gains, fragility persists, Al-Shabaab continues to threaten peace, & Somalia cannot shoulder this burden alone.

At the 1st Biennial Summit for a Sustainable, Inclusive & Resilient Global Economy convened on the sidelines of #UNGA80, & chaired by the UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, emphasised that “reforming the international financial system is no longer optional, but an urgent imperative.”

The African Union Commission through the financial support of the European Union is investing in 49 sub-Saharan Countries in the form of new Climate and Weather equipment’s better known to the Meteorology community as ClimSA 2025 and PUMA Stations. These systems are the backbone systems that will allow the expert at the African Meteorology Institutions to receive, process, and use high quality weather and climate data for decision making to save lives and live hoods of the citizens.

H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, addressed the AU Peace & Security Council on the sidelines of #UNGA80 in New York today.

He expressed gratitude to President João Lourenço of Angola for convening this vital high-level meeting on “Re-energizing Conflict Prevention & Resolution in Africa”—a theme underscoring Africa’s shared responsibility.
