The eighth Steering Committee meeting of the AU-PATTEC was held on 28th September 2019 at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Conference Centre back to back with the 35th ISCTRC and 18th PATTEC Coordinators’ meeting. The key PATTEC Steering Committee members shown in Appendix 2 were present and the agenda was fully discussed. The Steering Committee meeting was chaired by Professor Ahmed Elsawalhy, Director of AU-IBAR on behalf of H.E. Amb. Josefa L.C. Sacko, Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture.

The PATTEC Coordination Office held its 2nd consultative meeting on the development of a successor PATTEC strategic plan in Harare, Zimbabwe, on 11 – 13 November 2019. Selected PATTEC Coordinators including Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe; invited Tsetse experts; representative of Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and staff of PATTEC Coordination Office attended the meeting.

18 November 2019, Addis Abeba: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat concluded a two-day working visit to Geneva, Switzerland today. During the visit, he signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhenom Ghebreyesus.
