African Union Adopts Transitional Justice Policy

Addis Ababa, 12 February 2019: The 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union adopts the AU Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP). The Policy is a continental guideline for AU Member States to achieve sustainable peace, justice, reconciliation, social cohesion and healing in line with Article 4 (o) of the Constitutive Act of the African Union, which calls for peaceful resolution of conflicts, respect for the sanctity of human life, and the condemnation and rejection of impunity.

Addis Ababa,12th February 2019: On the side lines of the 32nd African Union Heads of State and Government Summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the African Union Champion for Nutrition, His Majesty King Letsie III, Head of State of the Kingdom of Lesotho, the African Union Commission and the African Leaders for Nutrition on 11th February launched a Continental Accountability Scorecard for Nutrition, under the theme, A call for better advocacy and Accountability for Nutrition Investments in Africa.

Addis Ababa 11th February 2019: The African Union gave out the Kwame Nkrumah Awards for Scientific Excellence for the continental and regional winners during the 2019 Assembly of the Heads of State and Government. H.E Prof. Sarah Anyang Agbor, Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology said that the African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Excellence Awards are awarded at three levels - national, regional and continental with the objective to honour the African men and women who have distinguished themselves through their contribution in Science for African development.

African Leaders Redefine the Future through Digital Transformation

Addis Ababa, February 11th, 2019: African Heads of State and Government today joined chorus of calls for digital transformation of the continent in the Ethiopian Capital, Addis Ababa.

The call was made at the African Union headquarters on the margins of the 32nd African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government during a high level luncheon dubbed “Digital Transformation for Africa: leaping into the African Century” centered on the issue of the continent’s digital transformation, which aspires to alter the way both the public and the private sector operate.
