The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU, H.E. Sahak Sargsyan, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali. During the meeting, Ambassador Sargsyan conveyed warm congratulations to the Chairperson & expressed Armenia’s interest in deepening cooperation with the African Union. The Chairperson acknowledged the potential for collaboration between the Commission & Armenia in key areas such as diaspora engagement, education, health, & ICT.

The AU Commission Chairperson H.E. @ymahmoudali met H.E. @Lamamra_UN, Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Sudan. They discussed the situation in Sudan, stressing there’s no military solution. Both emphasized the urgent need for an inclusive, Sudanese-led political process, civilian governance, & stronger AU-UN-IGAD & Arab League cooperation to restore lasting peace to Sudan.

At today’s AU Extraordinary Summit on Somalia in Entebbe, Uganda, the AU Commission Chairperson H.E. @ymahmoudali commended Troop Contributing Countries for their sacrifices and called for the swift implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2719. He urged the mobilisation of $190 million to support the AUSSOM transition, emphasised the need for stronger Somali force generation, & stressed the importance of inclusive state-building. “We cannot afford to lose the gains made,” he said, reaffirming the AU’s unwavering commitment to peace in Somalia.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali, received H.E. Nonceba Losi, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU. They had constructive discussion on Africa’s priorities within the G20 framework, underscoring the importance of inclusive representation and advancing the continent’s strategic interests. The meeting also highlighted South Africa’s ongoing commitment to promoting peace, stability, & sustainable development across the region.
