Republic of Korea gives 2 million Masks to the African Union for the COVID19 response

The African Union Commission today received medical supplies from the Republic of Korea that will boost the continental capacity to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The consignment included 2 million masks were given by the Republic of Korea to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to be distributed to the AU Member States.

This was a follow-up to the 1st Extraordinary Meeting of the AU Bureau on the GERD held on 26 June 2020.

The African Union defines its diaspora as people of African Origin who live outside the continent, and who, irrespective of their current nationality or citizenship are willing to contribute to the development of the continent and the African Union. This definition encompasses all African migration; historic, current, forced, voluntary, economic or humanitarian.

As part of its mandated and to ensure the continuity of service, the Office of the Legal Counsel has been organizing signing ceremonies and deposit of instruments of ratification from African Union Member States. However, OLC ensures that security measures to fight against the Covid19 are strictly followed.

In that regards, OLC has received the instruments of ratification of the Treaty for the establishment of the African Medicines Agency (AMA Treaty) from Burkina Faso and the Republic of Mali.
