05 August 2019, Addis Ababa: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat welcomes today’s initialling of the constitutional decree between the Sudanese political actors following the political declaration already adopted by the parties.

This development lays the foundations for a democratic transition with a civilian-led government and is an important achievement for Africa in its desire to solve its own problems.

The Republic of Madagascar becomes the fourth AU member states that have signed the Treaty for the establishment of the African Medicine Agency (AMA) on 1 August 2019 during the 3rd Ordinary Session of the Specialized Technical Committee on Health, Population and Drug Control (STC-HPDC-3), in Cairo, Egypt. The AMA treaty was adopted by Heads of State and Government during their 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly on 11 February 2019 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Within the framework of the construction of the new Headquarters of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Amb. Abdoulaye Diop, Chief of Staff of the Bureau of the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, received a delegation of ECOWAS headed by Mr. Pathé Gueye, ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure accompanied by Mr. Vafolay Tulay, ECOWAS Commissioner for General Administration and Conferences.

The African Union Commission (AUC) in collaboration with the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Secretariat and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s Regional Service Centre for Africa will hold a training workshop for Member States on Green/Climate Financing on 1st and 2nd August 2019 in Harare, Zimbabwe. This training is being co- hosted by the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe
