15th meeting of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Negotiating Forum is underway from 20th May - 1st June 2019.

To revitalize the public service and administration sectors as encapsulated in the African Charter on Public Service, and which calls for a holistic approach and a greater focus on reforms at the policy, organizational and human resources levels, the African Union Commission, in collaboration with the United Republic of Tanzania, convened a capacity building Seminar for public officers from state parties to the Charter, to strengthen their capacity and understanding of the Guidelines for reporting on the implementation of the African Charter on Public Service by Member States.

On behalf of H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, the Deputy Chairperson of African Union Commission in his address said, there is an urgent need for the African continent to come together and forge a common front in order to promote the building of the Africa we want. “We celebrate this memorable day under the AU 2019 theme "Year of Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons: Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa". He further said the theme in itself sufficiently demonstrates the acuteness of our challenges, and the urgent and imperative need to work together to ensure all African citizens have the inalienable right to live free, dignified and productive lives.

This is a preliminary statement that reflects the AUEOM’s assessment of the 2019 Tripartite Elections up to the close of polling on 21 May 2019. A final report of the AUEOM’s overall assessment of the entire process will be released within a reasonable time.
