Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Addis Ababa, 9 June 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, yesterday received from the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Niger to the AU the instrument of ratification of the Agreement on the African Continental Free Trade Area from Niger. In addition, the Permanent Representative indicated that the process of ratification of the Protocol on Free Movement of Persons, Right of Residence and Right of Establishment was underway.
Addis Ababa, 8 June 2018: As part of the follow-up on the relevant decisions of the policy organs of the African Union and his regular interactions with the Heads of State and Government of the Member States on issues related to the continental agenda, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, yesterday concluded a two-day visit to the Kingdom of Morocco. During this visit, he was received by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He also met with Prime Minister Saadeddine Othmani and Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, received Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, at the Headquarters of the African Union, today 8 June 2018.
4th – 5th June 2018: “Our people are counting on us to make sure that we deliver on Agenda 2063 so that they can enjoy the benefits of an integrated prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens, representing a dynamic force in the international arena”, Kenya’s principle secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Macharia Kamau said to the African Ambassadors representing thier countries in Ethiopia and the African Union at a meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.
Wednesday 30 May 2018: The 2018 Celebration of African Day of Seas and Oceans was held under the theme “Implementation of Africa Charter on Maritime Security, Safety and Development in Africa: Development of the Annexes to the African Charter on Maritime Security, Safety and Development in Africa” on Wednesday, 30 May 2018 at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
