Addis Ababa, 17 March 2018: At the invitation of the Government and National Elections Commission of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), His Excellency Moussa Faki Mahamat, has approved the deployment of a Short-Term Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to Egypt to observe the country’s presidential election scheduled for 26-28 March 2018.

Kigali, 16 March 2018: African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, today, to take part in the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the African Continental Free Trade Area, on 21 March 2018, as well as in preparatory meetings at the level of the Permanent Representatives Committee and the Executive Council. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 16 March 2018- The African Union (AU) Medical Services Directorate commemorated the Africa Healthy Lifestyle Day today at the African Union Commission (AUC) Headquarters. The Directorate of Medical Services celebrated the day with the Slogan: “When your life works your work works”. The activities were highly attended by AU Staff as well as Ambassadors. The Day began by an active sensitization exercise and distribution of flyers at the AU the AU main gate.

Addis Ababa (8 March 2018): African Union (AU) Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat today hosted U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa. Both sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to the shared goal of a stable and prosperous Africa. Their conversation today builds upon their previous meeting in November on the margins of the annual U.S.-AU High Level Dialogue in Washington D.C. The United States was the first country to establish a mission uniquely dedicated to the AU in 2006.
