This morning, H.E. @ymahmoudali, Chairperson of the AU Commission, received the letters of credence from H.E. Dr. Mohamed Khaled, newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the African Union.
The Chairperson commended Algeria’s steadfast commitment to the AU & its instrumental role in advancing continental priorities.

The 50th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC) kicked off on 9 June 2025, ahead of the 47th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 7th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (MYCM) between the African Union, the Regional Economic Communities and the Regional Mechanisms, scheduled to take place on 10- 13 July 2025, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

06 Jun 2025 – In line with Decision [Assembly/AU/Dec.631(XXVII)] of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government and Article 6(g) of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Statute (2020), which together mandate the APRM to provide support to African countries in the field of credit ratings. The APRM routinely undertakes independent analyses of rating actions and commentaries issued by international credit rating agencies on African sovereigns and multilateral financial institutions.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia | 5 June 2025 — In a historic demonstration of political resolve and continental unity, twenty African Union (AU) Member States affected by cholera convened on 4 June 2025 for a high-level virtual meeting, following a call by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and under the leadership of H.E. Hakainde Hichilema, President of Zambia and AU Champion on Cholera.
