The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, extends his warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Liberia on the occasion of the anniversary of their independence.

Addis Ababa, 26 July 2025 — The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf welcomes the announcement by President Emmanuel Macron of France expressing his intention to recognise the State of Palestine.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received in audience H.E. Julia Pataki, Ambassador of Romania to Ethiopia and to the African Union.
Their discussions focused on strengthening the partnership between Romania and the African Union Commission, particularly in areas such as education, peace and security, and food security. The Chairperson expressed appreciation for Romania’s longstanding and growing relations with African countries.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, bid farewell to Abdelhamid GHABBI, Ambassador of Tunisia to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union. The Chairperson commended Amb. GHABBI’s steadfast engagement in AU deliberations, notably on peace and security, institutional reforms, and sustainable financing.

The Chairperson expressed appreciation for Tunisia’s continued leadership on African matters & looks forward to working with the incoming Representative.

The African Union Commission, through its Pan African Institute for Education for Development (AU-IPED), convened the 2nd KIX Knowledge Café on Education Data Systems, on 22 July 2025, to advance dialogue on strengthening Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) across the continent. Held virtually, the session brought together education policymakers, EMIS experts, and development partners from over 15 African countries.
