On the auspicious occasion of Seychelles’ Independence Day, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, extends his warmest congratulations to the Government and the people of the Republic of Seychelles.

This day marks a momentous milestone in the national history of Seychelles- a celebration of sovereignty, cultural pride, and the enduring spirit of unity and resilience that defines the Seychellois people. It is also a reminder of the diverse identities and rich heritage that strengthen the bonds of our African Union family.

H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the AU Commission, met with H.E. Amb. Jonathan Pratt, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary @AsstSecStateAF, on the margins of the DRC–Rwanda Peace Agreement signing in Washington, DC.

They welcomed the peace accord and reaffirmed the importance of AU–US cooperation. The Chairperson conveyed the shared priorities of AU Member States, including equitable trade under AGOA & support for AU-led peace operations.

On this special day, I extend my warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Djibouti as you mark your Independence Day.

This anniversary is not only a celebration of sovereignty but also a powerful reminder of Djibouti’s enduring resilience, unity, and strategic contribution to peace and stability in the region.

May this day inspire continued progress, prosperity, and pride for all Djiboutians, at home and abroad.
