We the Heads of the following international observer missions present in Kenya: African Union (AU), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the Commonwealth, East African Community (EAC), European Union (EU), International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), National Democratic Institute (NDI) and The Carter Center (TCC).

AUEOM Orientation and Briefing Programme Commences today in Nairobi
Kenya, Nairobi, 3rd August 2017 – In preparation of its short term election observers for field deployment, the African Union Election Observer Mission (AUEOM) in Kenya commenced a three-day orientation and briefing programme from 3 to 5 August 2017.

The African Union deploys Long Term Observers for the General Elections in the Republic of Kenya
Addis Ababa, 5th July 2017: As the Republic of Kenya prepares to hold General Elections on 8th August 2017, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, has authorized the deployment of the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to Kenya to observe the country’s general elections scheduled for 8th August 2017.
Capacity Building Workshop on Electoral Systems
Nairobi 5th July 2017 -The Department of Political Affairs (DPA) of the African Union Commission in collaboration with the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) of Somalia has concluded a three-day BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) training workshop on Electoral Systems.
The BRIDGE workshop took place from 3-5 July 2017 in Nairobi, Kenya. It consisted of twenty participants comprising senior NIEC officials as well as policy makers involved in the constitution-making process as well as the drafting of the electoral law.
