Addis Ababa, 10 August 2018: Today, Africa commemorates the First African Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Day under the theme “Promoting Innovative Universal Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Systems for Good Governance and Better Lives”.

Starting 2018, African CRVS Day will be celebrated every year on the 10th of August, to increase public awareness of the importance of making all African people visible wherever they live, through well-functioning civil registration and vital statistics systems.

A Consultative workshop on Promoting Regional Integration in the Control of Tsetse and Trypanosomosis (T&T) in the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) took place on 6-7 August 2018 at Ngonemono Hotel, in Libreville, Gabon. The meeting was attended by ECCAS member states, including Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, DRC and Chad. In addition, three staff members from the AU-PATTEC coordination office, a consultant from ECCAS, a non-tsetse transmitted trypanosomosis expert and the Livestock Director of CEBEVIRHA attended the meeting.

Abuja, Nigeria, 07 August 2018 – The African Union Commission (AUC) is currently holding a High Level Stakeholders Engagement Round Table on the Accelerated Industrial Development for Africa (AIDA) Monitoring and Evaluation Framework and Reporting system. AIDA is a continental strategy for industrial development that was endorsed by the HOGs in 2008, and has been under implementation by member states.
