Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission received H.E. Mr. Tsutomu Nakagawa, Ambassador of Japan to the African Union, for a productive exchange on strengthening AU–Japan relations. They discussed deepening bilateral cooperation, Japan’s continued support to AU, including peace and security efforts, and preparations for the upcoming TICAD Summit.
They agreed to establish a high-level policy dialogue mechanism to align Japan’s support with the AU’s strategic priorities and to identify concrete areas for enhanced collaboration.
The Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali, met with H.E. Niels Annen, Parliamentary State Secretary to the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, to advance AU–Germany cooperation.
Discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships, including Germany’s valued support to the Africa CDC, peace and security initiatives, and regional integration efforts. The African Union (AU) and France Volontaires (FV) have formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in promoting volunteerism and strengthening the capacity of AU Member States to develop a robust volunteer ecosystem.
The African Union has deployed and onboarded the 2nd cohort of the AU Digital and Innovation Fellowship. The 19 Young Innovators from 10 countries across the continent will serve in various African Union Commission Departments and AU Organs for a period of 12 months.
A historic moment took place yesterday in Djibouti with the official signing by the Republic of Djibouti of the African Union Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (AU-CEVAWG).
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali, met with H.E. Mohamed Salem Al-Rashedi, the UAE Ambassador to Ethiopia, to explore ways to further deepen collaboration between the African Union and the United Arab Emirates. They discussed enhancing UAE investments in key sectors across Africa, and the Chairperson requested for the UAE’s support for AU-led peace and stabilisation initiatives.
The Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali, held a fruitful meeting with H.E. Dr. Mohamed Omar Gad, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ethiopia & Permanent Representative to the AU. Ambassador Gad conveyed a message of goodwill from his government & reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for the Chairperson's leadership.
The AUC Chairperson, H.E. @ymahmoudali, held a meeting with H.E. Amb. Miguel Andeme, Permanent Representative of Equatorial Guinea to Ethiopia and the AU. The Chairperson commended the steadfast support of H.E. President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Amb. Andeme to the AU'’s mandate, particularly in fostering multilateral cooperation. He also praised Equatorial Guinea’s exemplary organisation of the AU Mid-Year Summit in Malabo, a vital platform for collective dialogue on continental priorities. The Chairperson looks forward to participating in the upcoming Summit.
The Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali held a productive meeting with H.E. Fahad Alhumaydani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ethiopia and the AU. They discussed strengthening the longstanding and excellent partnership between the AU and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Chairperson commended the Kingdom’s continued support for development and humanitarian efforts across the continent, as well as the successful convening of the Saudi-Africa Summit. H.E.
