This morning, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf convened & presided over a session of the AU Peace Fund Executive Management Committee. He received a comprehensive briefing from H.E. @dagmawit_moges, Director-General of the @AUPeaceFund, & H.E. @Bankole_Adeoye, Commissioner of @AUC_PAPS, on the strategic and progressive utilisation of the Fund.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, had a meeting with Brig. Paul Kahuria Njema, Director General of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Secretariat this morning.
Their discussions focused on the peace & security landscape in Eastern DRC, Sudan, Somalia, & the Gulf of Aden. They reaffirmed the imperative of a sustained, coordinated approach to conflict resolution & the importance of securing sustainable & predictable funding for African-led peace support operations.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission expresses grave concern over reports of an Israeli airstrike on Iran and the ensuing escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.

The Chairperson calls for the immediate cessation of hostilities and urges all parties to exercise maximum restraint. He pointed out that the current developments pose a serious threat to international peace and security.

The African Union reiterates its steadfast commitment to peace, dialogue, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received H.E. Mr. Dammu Ravi, Vice Minister in the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India, for a courtesy visit. Their exchange reaffirmed the strong and growing Africa–India partnership, with discussions focusing on preparations for the next Africa–India Summit.

Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, H.E. Filippo Grandi this morning . They exchanged views on the regional displacement context & reaffirmed the imperative for coherent & coordinated regional & international responses. The Chairperson welcomed UNHCR’s continued partnership with the AU.
