The African Union Commission (AUC) was invited by the UK Department for International Trade to a webinar on ways technology can support Africa’s COVID-19 response and recovery.

The virtual meeting was chaired by HM Trade Commissioner for Africa, Emma Wade-Smith, and had AU Commissioner Dr.Amani Abou-Zeid, leading UK firms as well as British and African SMEs , as participants. The webinar discussed the challenges and opportunities of Covid-19 crisis in Africa and explored ways partnerships with tech firms can support economic recovery.

Kabuga was arrested in France on 16 May 2020 after 23 years on the run from justice.

May 12th, 2020; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: The African Union Commission (AUC) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) co-convened the 1st meeting of the Taskforce on COVID-19 impact on Food Security and Nutrition in Africa.
The taskforce was launched to implement the recommendations adopted by African Ministers of Agriculture on food security and nutrition outlining priorities of the sector as part of the continental response to COVID-19.

African Energy Ministers agree on Common Strategy for COVID-19 Response and Recovery

African Energy Ministers have agreed on a common strategy to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and to position the sector to power the recovery plan after the pandemic. The agreement was reached at an extra ordinary meeting of the Bureau of the Sub-Committee on Energy of the Specialised Specialized Technical Committee meeting on Transport, Transcontinental and Interregional Infrastructure, Energy and Tourism (STC-TTIIET) held on 12th May 2020 by video conference.

Prof. Sarah Mbi Enow Anyang (HRST) to launch the African Youth Front on Coronavirus that aims to create a platform for youth to contribute to the implementation of African Continental Strategic Plan for COVID-19 Pandemic.
