The Directorate of Information and Communication (DIC) of the African Union Commission (AUC) hereby announces that, the online accreditation process for journalists and the media coverage of the 31st AU Summit, scheduled to take place from 25th June to 2nd July 2018, in Nouakchott, Mauritania, has been launched on the AU website: www.au.int.

The Chairperson will outline the priorities of the Union and provide an update on ongoing efforts with regard to peace and security, democracy, human rights and good governance, continental integration, institutional reform of the African Union and Africa's place in the world.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; 3rd May 2018 – The African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson Amb. Kwesi Quartey today held bilateral talks with Heiko Maas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Deputy Chairperson congratulated Minister Maas on his appointment and welcomed his presence at the African Union headquarters; his first visit to Africa since his appointment. Both leaders underscored the importance of multilateralism in the socio-economic development of Africa and Europe.

The High Level Meeting on Public Financial Management Kicked Off Today

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, May 3, 2018: A High level meeting of the African Union and the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) kicked off today at the African Union Headquarters. The meeting bringing together senior officials and technocrats in the region, will deliberate on the management of public sector resources and need for better financial reporting by governments, particularly with the increasing need for effective corporate governance and efficient Public Financial Management (PFM).

Africa making major policy strides in agriculture

26th April 2018, Libreville, Gabon - Over 100 top African agricultural experts met in the Gabonese capital – Libreville, from April 23th, to assess lessons learned and policy implications from the inaugural Biennial Review (BR) Report on the implementation of the 2014 Malabo Declaration on Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation for Shared Prosperity and Improved Livelihoods. The report was presented to the AU Heads of State and Government at the AU Summit in January 2018.
