H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Kinshasa/ Bandaka/Bikoro, 20 May 2018 - The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is deploying 25 epidemiologists, laboratory experts, and anthropologists to support the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) efforts to control the recent Ebola virus outbreat in Mbandaka and Bikoro. Following the announcement on 8 May 2018 of the Ebola outbreak by the government of DRC, the Africa CDC deployed an assessment mission within 48 hours and activated its Emergency Operational Centre to link, scan and monitor the situation.

Addis Abeba/Brussels, 21 May 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, arrived today in Brussels, for the annual College-to-College meeting with the European Commission. The Chairperson’s delegation includes members of the Commission and other senior officials of the Commission.
This meeting is taking place against the backdrop of the 5th Summit between the African Union and the European Union held in Abidjan in November 2017. It will take stock of progress made in the follow-up to the Abidjan Declaration and chart the way forward.

Lilongwe, 15th May, 2018: The African Union Commission (AUC) has been on a two-day preparatory Mission to the Republic of Malawi for the hosting of the Summit of the Committee of ten Heads of State and Government (C10), Championing Education, Science and Technology in Africa, scheduled to take place this year.
This follows the offer by Malawian President, Professor Peter Mutharika to host the first summit of the C10 in 2018.
