African leaders, global investors, and development partners will gather in Luanda from 28-31 October 2025 for the III Summit on Financing for Infrastructure Development in Africa. Held under the High Patronage of H.E. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of Angola and the African Union Chairperson, the summit aims to turn the theme “Capital, Corridors, Trade: Investing in infrastructure for the AFCFTA and shared prosperity” into concrete action, directly addressing Africa's infrastructure financing needs to fuel continental integration.

H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, joined Heads of State & Government in Luanda, Angola, today for the 3rd Summit on Financing for Infrastructure Development in Africa, & highlighted that “Africa must invest 130 billion dollars yearly to close its infrastructure gap; the backbone of the AfCFTA & of our economic sovereignty.”

On the occasion of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Anti-Sanctions Day, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has once again issued a firm and unequivocal call for the immediate and unconditional lifting of all unilateral sanctions imposed against the Republic of Zimbabwe.

During his keynote address at the 11th Tana High-Level Forum on African Security in Addis Ababa this morning, AU Commission Chairperson H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf underscored that Africa must move from reflection to action.

In a shifting world order marked by fragility and uncertainty, he called for unity anchored in shared values and solidarity. “Our biggest challenge,” he said, “is translating ideas into actions that improve lives.”

He called on the continent’s leadership to work closely with the African Union to build the Africa we want.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf this afternoon addressed the inaugural virtual meeting of the Ad-Hoc Committee on AU Institutional #Reform, convened & chaired by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto of Kenya, the AU Champion for Institutional Reform.

The Chairperson thanked President Ruto for his leadership in steering the reform process. President Ruto & the Chairperson reaffirmed Africa’s shared commitment to building a stronger, more coherent, & people-centered Union.
