Message from the Chairperson of the African Union Commission on Independence Day of the Republic of South Sudan

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, extends his warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of South Sudan on the occasion of their Independence Day.

At the 3rd African Job Creation Forum held this morning in Addis Ababa, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali, joined H.E. @TemesgenTiru , Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, & H.E. Muferihat Kamil, Minister of Labour & Skills of Ethiopia, in calling for bold action to address Africa’s employment challenge through agro-industrialisation and innovation.

This momentous occasion is a testament to Malawi’s resilience, unity, and unwavering commitment to peace and development. As a valued member of our Union, Malawi continues to play a vital role in advancing our shared aspirations under Agenda 2063, particularly in the fields of youth empowerment, agricultural transformation, and regional integration.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, extends his warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria on the occasion of their Independence Day.

He pays tribute to the unwavering courage and immense sacrifice of the Algerian people in their historic struggle for freedom, dignity, and self-determination. Algeria’s liberation remains one of Africa’s most powerful symbols of resistance against colonialism and a cornerstone of the continent’s broader liberation movements.

Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received H.E. Dr. Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, President of INTERPOL. The Chairperson commended INTERPOL’s vital role in promoting global security and law enforcement cooperation, and thanked Dr. Al-Raisi for his support to AFRIPOL.

The Chairperson & Dr. Raisi reaffirmed their commitment to deepening AU–INTERPOL collaboration to combat transnational crime and enhance the rule of law across Africa.
