H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, welcomes the Five-Point Initiative jointly advanced by the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East region.
During his visit to Morocco to participate at the 58th Fifty-eighth session of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf visited the Port of Tangier, where he was received by Mr. Mehdi Tazi-Riffi, the CEO of Tanger Med Port, the leading port in the Mediterranean and Africa & other senior management of the Port.
The African Energy Commission (AFREC), in partnership with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Zambia, has successfully conducted a five-day hybrid training workshop on electricity distribution grid loss determination and action planning aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in distribution grids across Africa. The training brought together over 50 experts from more than 20 African countries, including representatives from energy ministries, utilities, regulators, academia, and regional energy institutions.
During this morning's opening session of the ministerial segment of the Fifty-eighth session of the Economic Commission for Africa Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Tangier, Morocco, H.E. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, H.E. Nasser Bourita, held talks on Wednesday in Rabat with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.
This meeting took place on the margins of Mr. Youssouf’s participation in the 58th session of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, convened by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Tangier.

On the margins of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly, the African Union Commission convened a High-Level Side Event on Digital Health Technologies for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) under the theme: “Strengthening Integrated WASH-RMNCAH Systems through Digital and Data-Driven Approaches to Advance the Maputo Plan of Action and CARMMA Plus.”
On the margins of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, the African Union Commission, the Kingdom of Lesotho, the African Development Bank (AFDB) - Africa Leaders for Nutrition (ALN) Initiative, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and Nutrition International convened a High-Level Side Event titled: “Recommit Africa to Child Survival through Strategic Investment in Prevention of Malnutrition.”
