H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Cairo, 07-14 AUG 2016: The African Union Commission (AUC) and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (LAS) held a series of extensive meetings at the Headquarters of LAS in Cairo to discuss all issues related to the implementation of the 3rd Africa –Arab Summit held in Kuwait 2013 and the preparation of the upcoming 4th Africa-Arab Summit which will be held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, Nov 2016.

AUC CHAIRPERSON HONOURED WITH THE ‘2016 AFRICA PERSONALITY AWARD’
Nairobi, Kenya - 24 August 2016: Preparation for the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-VI) began today with a Senior Official’s Meeting (SOM) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi, Kenya. This is the first time since its inception in 1993 that TICAD is being held in Africa and the TICAD VI Summit demonstrates the continent’s ownership of the TICAD process.

The AU Commission has officially informed all Member States, providing detailed timeframes and deadlines for the submission of candidatures for the ten (10) positions that are open.
