Addis Ababa, 8 July 2016: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has learned, with extremely great concern, of the very serious incidents that took place on 8 July 2016, during which the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-In Opposition (SPLA-IO) forces engaged in very deadly exchange of gunfire in parts of Juba, including at the Office of the President while the President, the 1st Vice-President and the Vice-President were in a meeting.

The workshop on Policy Dialogue and Strengthening of the capacity of pastoralists’ networks and organizations concluded today by reaffirming the vital role of adapted and resilient pastoral systems in the face of climate change. The three-day gathering workshop was organized by the Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture (AUC/DREA), through Pastoralism Division, under the theme: “Resilience and adaptation to drought conditions and pastoralists systems in Africa”.

Addis Ababa, 7 July 2016: Following an invitation from the Government of the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Her Excellency Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, has approved the deployment of an African Union Short-Term Election Observation (STO) Mission to the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe’s Presidential Election scheduled for 17th July 2016.

Kigali, Rwanda 7 July 2016- The Republic of Rwanda will host from 10 to 18 July 2016, the 27th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) under the theme: “2016: Year of Human Rights with a particular focus on the Rights of Women”. The newly constructed Convention Centre dubbed (KCC) has given a facelift to the capital city, Kigali. All the major streets are colourfully carrying visual branding of the summit artworks with messages to popularise the vision of the African Union and its development Agenda 2063.
