Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 7 October 2019: Representatives from African Union (AU) Member States officials, continental organizations for persons with disabilities, refugees, returnees and Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) with disabilities, disability federations, universities, rehabilitation experts and practitioners, policy makers, and civil society organizations are gathered today on the occasion of the 7th Africa Forum on Visual Impairment in Addis Ababa.

Le président de la Commission de l’Union africaine, Moussa Faki Mahamat, salue la tenue du Grand Dialogue National au Cameroun consacré à la recherche de solution à la crise dans les régions du Nord-Ouest et du Sud-Ouest et appelle a une mise en oeuvre effective de ses resolutions.

Il se félicite des mesures d’apaisement prises par le President Paul Biya notamment la libération de prisonniers et la cessation de poursuite judiciaires.

Addis Abéba, le 02 octobre 2019: Le Président de la Commission de l’Union africaine, Moussa Faki Mahamat, condamne fermement les attaques terroristes perpétrées le 30 septembre et le 1er octobre 2019 contre les forces armées maliennes et un de leur bataillon de la Force du G5 Sahel dans les régions de Boulkassi et de Mondoro.

Le Président de la Commission présente ses condoléances les plus attristées aux familles des soldats tombés et souhaite un prompt rétablissement aux blessés.

Background

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is witnessing the second largest world Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak, which started about one year ago. As of today, the current EVD has killed over 1,700 individuals and continues to increase. Moreover, after a yearlong fight against EVD in an armed conflict zones in Eastern DRC, the outbreak spilled over into a high densely populated city of Goma and neighbouring Uganda; and poses a very high risk to the region of more than 280 million inhabitants.
