The media is an indispensable player for sustainable development and peace building. Yet, the levels of impunity and rising cases of violations against journalists and media workers erodes the rights to freedom of expression and opinion, access to information, assembly and association.

Objectives

This event is crucial in fostering cross-border cooperation, sharing best practices, and developing comprehensive strategies to strengthen law enforcement and the rule of law across the continent. Participants will include representatives from law enforcement, customs, judiciary, and international organizations such as INTERPOL, UNODC, AFRIPOL, and other key stakeholders working in drug control and crime prevention.

The African Union has dedicated Education as the AU Theme of the Year 2024 – “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century - Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa”, having the encouragement of Teaching Reforms as its first outcome.
