The African Union Commission (AUC) will establish the Pan African University (PAU) consisting of five centers of excellence and additional interlinked research centers in five thematic areas in five regions of Africa . By the German Financial Cooperation, the North African hub of PAU based at the University of Tlemcen (Algeria), should be supported in in the fields of Water and Energy Sciences (including climate change) (PAUWES). The program objective is: "The internationally recognized PAUWES Institute - embedded in the overall PAU-structure –contributes to the development of higher education and applied research in the fields of water and energy (including climate change) for sustainable development in Africa."

The measures of the FC program include the provision of infrastructure (building renovation and modernization, equipment of laboratories and ICT), scholarships for Master and PhD students as well as costs for salaries and mobility for instructors. AUC is looking for an appropriate International / Algerian Implementation Consultant for the modernization and rehabilitation of infrastructure and procurement of equipment (especially laboratory equipment).

The FC project will contribute to PAUWES Master and doctoral students study successfully in demanding application-and research-oriented programs in water and energy sciences (including climate change).
