NEWLY APPOINTED AMBASSADORS OF SOMALIA AND LIBYA TO THE AFRICAN UNION PRESENT LETTERS OF CREDENCE TO THE AUC CHAIRPERSON

Addis Ababa, 7 October 2013- Ambassador Ahmed Abdisalam Haji Adam, today, 7 October 2013, presented his letters of credence to Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) as the new representative of the Federal Republic of Somalia, to Addis Ababa and to the African Union. He conveyed the message of appreciation from his government to the AUC Chairperson, for the key role played by the AUC in restoring peace in the country through a legitimate and internally recognized government as well as helping to stabilize the government. Ambassador Ahmed Abdisalam reiterated his government’s commitment to work closely with the African Union for a more active participation of Somalia in the activities of the Union.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Ambassador of Libya to Addis Ababa and to the African Union, Mr. Mahfud R.M. Rahim, informed the AUC Chairperson of his country’s readiness to work with the African Union to enhance the development of the continent in the different socio-economic and political sectors. He assured Dr. Dlamini Zuma of the full cooperation of Libya to the integration agenda for a prosperous, peaceful and strong Africa.

Dr. Dlamini Zuma congratulated both Ambassadors for their new appointment and promised her support to help them achieve their mission in the interest of their respective populations and of the continent.
