Addis Ababa, 14 September 2018 – H.E. Fadlassid Ali Naffa, new Ambassador of the Republic of Chad presented his credentials to H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, on 14 September 2018 at the AU Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Amb. Naffa conveyed the salutations of H.E. Idriss Déby, President of Chad and he reassured the Chairperson of the support of his country for his success as the Head of the AU Commission. He also recalled that the AU Summit held in July in Nouakchott, Mauritania, recognized that the African Union is on the right path especially as it embarks on the reform process. Amb. Naffa further reiterated his determination to work closely with the Commission toward the implementation of Agenda 2063 and advance the different projects of the African Union.

In his turn, the Chairperson indicated that the AU is deeply engaged in a dynamic enhancement of the continental institutions such as the ongoing important meeting of the Executive Council to finalize the African Common Position on the partnership with the European Union (EU), more specifically on the Post-Cotonou 2020 Agreement, as well as the reforms of the Union. Hence, it is the right time for the new Ambassador to utilize his past experiences. He concluded by assuring the newly appointed ambassador of Chad of the availability of the Commission in the success of his new tenure.
