The New Ambassador of the Republic Of Equatorial Guinea to the African Union, Presents His Letters Of Credence to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission

Addis Ababa, 25 January 2019 – The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, received the credentials of H.E. Mr. Crisantos Obama Ondo, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, at the AU Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The newly appointed Ambassador conveyed the renewed commitment of H.E. Mr Obiang Nguema, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, to the AU and confirmed the participation of the President at the upcoming AU Summit in February 2019.
Amb. Cristos Obama Ondo highlighted the issues discussed during his country’s ongoing presidency of the AU Peace and Security Council for the month of January. He also informed the Chairperson of his country’s chairing of the upcoming High-level Session of the UN Security Council on mercenaries, a theme of major concern for the continent. This session which the Commission has been invited to attend, is scheduled to take place from 4th to 5th February 2019 in New York, USA. Other issues were also raised during the meeting, including strengthening the cooperation between Latin American countries and the AU as well as Spanish, as one of the AU working language.
The Chairperson welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador and assured of him of the AU’s continued support and collaboration with the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. He then wished Amb. Cristos Obama Ondo a successful tour of duty.
