Farewell Call by Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe

HE Albert R Chimbindi, Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, HE Mr Kwesi Quartey to bid him farewell at the end of his tenure.

HE Mr Quartey noted that HE Amb Chimbindi’s consistent insightful contributions and incisive argument at Permanent Representative Committee (PRC) meetings had gone a long way to help shape and strengthen the Commission to deliver on its mandates. He further commended him for the passion and dedication with which he approached his work, stating that it was evidence of his leadership acumen and commitment to the ideals of Pan-Africanism. He urged him to keep up the spirit.

On his part, HE Amb Chimbindi expressed gratitude to the Deputy Chairperson, stating that his frequent participation in PRC meetings had been a source of encouragement to the body and also served as an indication of the importance the Commission attached works of the PRC.

The two exchanged views on topical matters affecting the continent such as the Pan-African renaissance, conflict situations on the continent, respect for human rights, adherence to rule of law, among others.

The Deputy Chairperson wished HE Amb Albert Chimbindi the very best in all his future endeavours.
