The Chairperson of the AU Commission welcomes EU support to the African Union
Addis Ababa, 21 April 2022: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, welcomes the decision by the European Union Council to establish an Assistance Measure under the European Peace Facility (EPF) in support of the AU, worth 600 million Euros, for the period 2022-2024.
The Chairperson commends the 3-year EU support as a demonstration of the commitment to build stronger partnership with the AU in line with the Joint Declaration of the 6th AU-EU Summit, held in Brussels, February 2022.
Furthermore, the Chairperson underscores the importance of regional and multilateral cooperation to strengthen AU-led peace support operations towards building durable peace on the Continent.
