The forty-third (43rd) Ordinary Session of the Executive Council took place on July 13th and 14th, 2023, starting at 10 AM East Africa Time (EAT) or 9 AM Central Africa Time (CAT). The opening session was held at the UN Headquarters in Nairobi. The session was also broadcast live on the following link: https://livestream.com/accounts/2466140/events/10892409.

The opening session featured speeches from several notable individuals, including:

•  H.E. Alfred Mutua, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, who delivered the Welcome Remarks.
• H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the AU Commission, who made a statement.
• H.E. Ahmed Bin Abdulaziz Kattan, former Minister of State and Advisor to the Royal Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in charge of Africa, who also delivered a statement.
• H.E. Mr. Dhoihir Dhoulkamal, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the Executive Council, presented the Opening Statement.
