The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, today received a farewell courtesy call from H.E. Jens Hanefeld, Ambassador of Germany to Ethiopia & Permanent Observer to the African Union.

The Chairperson expressed appreciation for Ambassador Hanefeld’s contributions to strengthening AU-Germany & AU-EU partnerships, including on UN & IFI reform, peace support operations, & bilateral development with AU member states.

Amb. Hanefeld commended the Chairperson’s leadership & reaffirmed Germany & the EU’s continued support to AU’s institutional reform agenda & to deepening multilateral cooperation in a rapidly evolving global context. He also underscored the significance of AfCFTA as a strategic platform for regional integration & EU-Africa trade collaboration.
