What: Meeting of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) on the Margins of the 39^th AU Ordinary Session of the Assembly

Why: The mandate of CAHOSCC is to spearhead the African Common Position on Climate Change and its key messages and ensure that Africa speaks with one voice in global climate change negotiations

OBJECTIVE OF THE MEETING

The objective of the meeting is to present and reflect on the following:

• The outcome of the 30^th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 30)
• The outcomes of the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS 2) held from 8^th to 10^th September 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
• The implementation status of the African Leaders Nairobi Declaration on Climate Change and Call to Action.
• The African Action Plan on Carbon markets and the African Gold Standard for Carbon Markets Initiatives.
• The reports from the African Climate Commissions and Climate Initiatives.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

Consideration of the Report of the CAHOSCC Coordinator and Draft Decision of CAHOSCC.
