H.E. @ymahmoudali, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, this morning bid farewell to H.E. Ms. Luísa Fragoso, Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic to Ethiopia & the African Union.

The Chairperson expressed appreciation for Ambassador Fragoso’s commitment to advancing Africa–Portugal relations, as well as Portugal’s constructive role in strengthening Africa–EU partnership & promoting effective multilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Fragoso congratulated the Chairperson on the successful convening of the 39th AU Assembly & commended his leadership in deepening engagement with European Union Member States. She also conveyed that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal will undertake an official visit to the region in the near future, during which he intends to meet with the Chairperson.

H.E. Mr. Youssouf wished Ambassador Fragoso every success in her new posting & conveyed his anticipation of welcoming her successor to further consolidate the strong partnership between the African Union and Portugal.
