H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, met with Hon. Judge Issoufou Boureima, President of the AU Administrative Tribunal, & reaffirmed his commitment to an independent, effective & modern internal justice system.

The Chairperson & Judge Boureima agreed to advance the comprehensive review of the Tribunal’s legal framework, modernise its Statute & procedures in line with international best practice, & progressively reduce the case backlog, including through the timely execution of judgments in full respect of the rule of law.

Chairperson Youssouf underscored that internal justice must reinforce institutional responsibility & individual accountability, strengthen risk management & administrative rigour, & promote early dispute resolution to prevent avoidable litigation & foster a culture of ethics, good governance & accountability across the Union.
