AU Commission Chairperson commends peaceful conduct of presidential elections in Benin and congratulates President-elect Kossi WADAGNI
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, highly commends the conduct of peaceful presidential elections held on 12 April 2026 in the Republic of Benin. He congratulates the president-elect, Kossi Mbueke WADAGNI on his brilliant electoral victory which was announced by the National Electoral Commission on 13 April 2026.
The AUC Chairperson expresses sincere appreciation to H.E Sylvestre Ntibantunganya, former President of the Republic of Burundi for his exemplary leadership of the AU Election Observation Mission to Benin.
The AUC Chairperson further reiterates the commitment of the Commission to democratic consolidation in AU Member States through credible, peaceful, and transparent electoral processes as the foundation for sustainable peace and development.
