The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, met with Mr. James Swan, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Head of MONUSCO, and Mr. Huang Xia, United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region. Their discussions focused on the situation in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and the broader Great Lakes region. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the African Union and the United Nations in support of peace, security, stability and sustainable development in the region.
