The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf this afternoon chaired the Coordination Committee Meeting comprising the Chief Executives of the regional Economy Communities (RECs), Regional Mechanisms (RMs) & @NEPAD_Agency & @AfCFTA , in preparation for the 8th AU Mid-Year Review in El-Alamein, Egypt.

The RECs, RMs & AUDA-NEPAD & AFCFTA expressed appreciation to the Chairperson for sustained engagement, coordination & leadership in advancing continental priorities.

The meeting discussed the draft work programme & received briefings on division of labour AU–RECs/RMs–Member States, continental integration, I-RECKE conflict prevention, AfCFTA implementation, regional operational readiness, & water, sanitation & infrastructure for integration among other important agenda items.

The meeting also considered AUDA-NEPAD’s role in integration, progress on AfCFTA, & the draft declaration & preparatory arrangements for the Mid-Year Coordination Meeting.
