African Union Congratulates President-Elect, Uhuru Kenyatta
Addis Ababa, 14 August 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AU) Moussa Faki Mahamat congratulates President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and his Vice President William Ruto on their successful re-election following the 8 August 2017 General Elections in Kenya.
The Chairperson commends the acceptance speech by President Kenyatta, extending an olive branch to his challenger Raila Odinga as well as other political actors to work towards peace, stability and development of Kenya. The Chairperson urges all political actors to embrace dialogue and tolerance towards fostering national reconciliation and cohesion for all Kenyans.
