Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - 16 February 2015: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has welcomed the release on bail of the remaining two Al-Jazeera journalists while awaiting their retrial.

The three Al Jazeera journalists: Baher Mohamed, Mohamed Fahmy and Peter Greste, were arrested and jailed in 2013 by the Egyptian authorities on charges of helping the Muslim Brotherhood, reportedly "a terrorist organization".

Baher Mohamed and Mohamed Fahmy were released on Friday, 13 February 2015, less than two weeks after their colleague Peter Greste was released and deported on Sunday 1 February 2015.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission commends the Government of President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt for allowing the journalists to regain their freedom while allowing the completion of the judicial process.
